Ukrainian and the UK Navy conducted training in the Black Sea (PHOTO, VIDEO)

A joint tactical group of the Ukrainian Navy and the United Kingdom’s Navy conducted PASSEX-type training in the Black Sea. The purpose of the event was to maintain security in the Black Sea region, improve the training and interoperability of the crews of ships of the two countries in accordance with the standards of the North Atlantic Alliance.

In addition to surface combat units, a Mi-14 helicopter of the naval aviation brigade of the national fleet was involved in the military exercises.

The two-day training took place in several stages, in particular, the ship-and-boat group practiced maneuvering in suits and orders, organizing air defense, repelling attacks from high-speed small-sized floating craft of a conventional enemy, setting a smoke screen. During the implementation of the common elements, the main focus was on improving the compatibility and coherence of the crews.

Also, the military practiced ship exercises on air and traverse cargo transfer, reconnaissance, coverage of the maritime situation in areas of intensive civil navigation and conducted a search and rescue operation.

The course of PASSEX-type training was actively monitored by vessels of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, the Ukrainian military have also conducted training near the occupied Crimea.
