The Russian Federation is trying in every possible way to protect the Crimean (Kerch) bridge from attacks by Ukrainian sea drones. To do this, several barges were flooded along the bridge, boom nets were pulled, guard ships of the Federal Security Service (FSB) were deployed, and more. However, attacks from Ukraine will continue, as there is a need to cut off the main enemy logistical supply artery that feeds the Crimea and the southern direction of the front. Andriy Ryzhenko, captain of the 1st rank of the reserve, deputy chief of staff of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (2004-2020), spoke about this on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel.

“After the previous serious attack, which took place at the end of July, when the span of the Crimean bridge was blown up, the Russians took additional very serious security measures in order to protect the Crimean bridge from sea drones. Because there was information that there is a new sea drone SeaBaby (“Sea Baby”), which carries 850 kg of explosives. That is, they realized that this is a very serious issue, and if three or four such drones are blown up under the bridge, then this logistical artery will be interrupted. This is very important for the supply to Crimea, primarily of military equipment,” he explained.

Ukraine needs to interrupt the logistics that go through the Crimean bridge, so attacks by Ukrainian drones will continue, Ryzhenko is sure.

“They took out the ships of many border troops of the FSB. In fact, 6-10 such ships are constantly at sea along the coast of the Crimean peninsula. And their task is just observation. The attacks will continue. And so they carry out such events, they try to identify them, they try to protect the bridge with passive protection. That is, they push through the pontoons, they put up bonnet barriers. Life is no longer comfortable. For our part, such measures will continue in order to reduce the combat potential of the enemy both in Crimea and in the occupied territories of Ukraine,” he explained.
