The international community must continue to strongly defend the return of Crimea to Ukraine, said the President of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC), Eugene Czolij.

“The UWC emphasizes the seriousness of the threat of Russia’s occupation of Crimea for global peace and security, and calls on the international community to resolutely demand the return of an illegally-occupied peninsula to Ukraine, while maintaining the pressure to free all Crimean Tatars and Ukrainian prisoners,” Czolij said.

The UWC urges the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), to deploy a monitoring mission to Crimea.

“For the sake of protecting Crimeans from further victimization by the occupation authorities and preventing their isolation, the UWC calls for the deployment of an OSCE mission on the peninsula, or if this is not possible, a remote observation mission,” the UWC stated.
