At a meeting of the Coalition for Demining in Vilnius, the partners confirmed their readiness to allocate 700 million euros for the purchase of equipment for Ukraine.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.
It is expected that the funds will be allocated until 2034, and in 2025 the budget will amount to 130 million euros.
“In the last quarter of last year, material and technical resources worth €16.1 million were purchased. As of February, the Central Project Management Agency (CPMA, Republic of Lithuania) has already accumulated €51 million,” said Ruslan Berehulyna, head of the Ministry of Defense’s Main Mine Action Department.
He also handed over the “Roadmap for demining until 2035” to the coalition leaders. According to him, international partners are interested in Ukraine’s experience in the war, and working groups will be set up together with Lithuania to study the latest approaches, including the use of UAVs and artificial intelligence in demining.
