Ukraine sets up military command in Kursk region

Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi has said that Ukraine established a military command in the Kursk region.

He announced it during a meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief on August 15.

“To maintain law and order and address the primary needs of the population in the controlled areas, a military command has been established,” Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi reported to Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

He also announced that Major General Eduard Moskaliov is to oversee the command.

According to Oleksandr Syrskyi, Ukraine now controls 1,150 square kilometers and 82 settlements in Russia’s Kursk Oblast.

After the meeting, Volodymyr Zelenskyy approved the progress in the Kursk region, the situation with Russian POWs in particular.

“There has been new progress. Our “exchange fund” has been further replenished,” he wrote on X.
