Ukraine sees 109,990 land deals registered within the frames of land market

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine reports that as of July 25, 109,990 agreements have been concluded within the framework of the land market.

5,576 notaries submitted applications for access to the State Land Cadastre. A total number is 6,265 applications, of which 5,492 were approved, 771 were rejected, and 2 are on the waiting list.

Kharkiv region, Dnipropetrovsk region, Kherson region, Kirovohrad region, and Poltava region are among the leading regions in terms of land area for which deals have been registered.

Background

On July 1, 2021, the land market officially started in Ukraine. Until 2024, only natural persons-citizens of Ukraine can buy agricultural land with a limit of 100 hectares. The law on the land market prohibits foreigners from buying land. The issue of land sales to persons without Ukrainian citizenship and foreigners will be decided only in a nationwide referendum.
