Ukraine Participates In China International Import Expo


The first China International Import Expo (CIIE) and Hongqiao International Trading Forum started in Shanghai On Nov. 5, as reported.

China International Import Expo is taking place for the first time and the authorities deem it to be important enough to declare nationwide holidays for its duration. Ukraine will also be represented at the expo.

This nation-wide exhibition is taking place for the first time, and it aims to demonstrate that the country’s openness for importing foreign goods. The expo days have been declared as state holidays by the authorities.

China has held the 2nd place among the world’s biggest importers for the past nine years, making just over 10 percent of the world’s total import.

Number-wise, there are more than three thousand companies from 130 countries taking part in the expo.

It’s important to note that delegates from G20 member states are here, and so are the representatives of 50 countries interested in China’s Belt and Road mega-project.

In fact, due to the sheer number of those willing to take part in the expo, the organizers had to increase the dedicated area twice, first to 210 thousand square meters and then again to 280 thousand.

Ukraine is represented by a large delegation of developers, entrepreneurs, and officials led by Vice Prime Minister Stepan Kubiv.

Ukraine’s stand opens on Tuesday. It will present more than five dozen enterprises from an array of different industries. The stand will kick off with a presentation of a special postage stamp commemorating the Expo. The stamp will have a depiction of a crane as well as the Ukrainian and Chinese flags on it.
