At NATO-Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training and Education Center (JATEC), Ukraine and NATO will jointly accumulate the necessary experience, and Ukrainian officers will work on equal terms with their partners from NATO member countries.
This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and Minister of Justice of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna in a comment to a Ukrinform correspondent, following the official event marking the initial operational capability of JATEC.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that JATEC is the first NATO structure created in partnership with a non-member country.
“This is not some third or advisory structure, but a specific entity within the NATO Command. Its work is now being launched, and, in fact, Ukrainian officers are fully represented in this center, holding leadership and officer positions,” Stefanishyna noted.
According to her, JATEC should be considered in conjunction with the NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (NSATU), which was established last year in Wiesbaden, Germany. Stefanishyna highlighted that the NSATU is an operational structure that coordinates military assistance, logistics, and delivery of relevant weapons for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Meanwhile, JATEC is a structure focused on analytics, providing recommendations based on the experience of the war, Ukraine’s interaction with its allies in training, threat analysis, and hybrid warfare challenges.
“In fact, the center will accumulate experience that will be shared between Ukraine and NATO,” Stefanishyna emphasized, adding that this will be beneficial for both Ukrainians and their allies.
As reported by Ukrinform, on Monday in Bydgoszcz (northern Poland), the official ceremony took place marking the initial operational capability of the NATO-Ukraine JATEC. The center will employ 70 people, including 20 from Ukraine.
