The coming week will be decisive in the US Congress in the context of the adoption of a package with assistance to Ukraine. The visit of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the States demonstrates that Kyiv is making every effort to enlist the support of Washington. This opinion was expressed live on the FREEDOM TV channel by political scientist, head of the Center for Analysis and Strategies Igor Chalenko.
“President Zelenskyy visit to the United States now is the maximum emphasis on getting results. For the two houses of Congress to pass support for Ukraine for next year this week – funding of more than $61 billion. We must understand that this week will be decisive, since the session in the House of Representatives ends on Thursday, the session ends on Friday this year in the Senate. Accordingly, it is now necessary to hold a series of meetings, of course, including with US President Joe Biden, to maximally lobby for the adoption of the corresponding budget allocations,” said the head of the Center for Analysis and Strategies.
He noted that the result is not guaranteed, since the situation with the adoption of the aid package is extremely difficult.
“But Ukraine is doing everything possible to get the maximum result. And, of course, this visit of President Zelenskyy, on the one hand, is unexpected, but at the same time it shows that Ukraine today is doing everything possible to enlist the support of the United States next year,” emphasized Igor Chalenko.
Earlier it became known that today, December 11, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy began a working visit to the United States of America. Zelenskyy will meet with American leader Joe Biden and hold a series of meetings and negotiations. The purpose of the trip is to ensure the unity of the United States, Europe and the world around supporting Ukraine in defending itself against Russian terror and in strengthening an international order based on rules and respect for the sovereignty of each nation.
