Ukraine has made its choice and plans to become a member of NATO.

During a joint briefing with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in Odesa, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Dmytro Kuleba said:

“Ukraine has made its choice. It is NATO membership. The Alliance also made its choice in 2008 when it decided at the Bucharest summit that Ukraine would become a member of NATO. We assume that this decision will be fulfilled. The Government I represent is the first government which clearly defined in its action plan the goal to meet the requirements for membership in the Alliance in five years,” Ukrinform reports.

Ukraine has to make this way step by step together with NATO colleagues, using all the available tools, Kuleba stressed.

Different opinion polls in Ukraine show a trend of gradually increasing support for Euro-Atlantic integration.

“I am convinced this is not just a natural reaction of the Ukrainians to Russian aggression but a conscious decision,” Kuleba summed up.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg was in Odesa as part of North Atlantic Council delegation currently visiting Ukraine.
