For 20 years, Chechnya has been fighting one-on-one with the Russian Federation against Russian occupation. Some forms of resistance have not stopped since 1994. But only Ukraine can become the catalyst that will strengthen this fight and give new strength to the Chechen people. The region also needs a stable rear to fight the occupying power, and this takes time. Said Isaev, speaker of the Chechen battalion named after Sheikh Mansur, stated this on the FREEDOM TV channel.
“And if the war began in 1994, in fact the fighting continued on the territory of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria until 2022. Of course, Ukraine can become a catalyst, it can become the breakthrough into the Russian Federation that will put an end to the empire. But we must understand that before we raise any uprisings on the territory of the Chechen Republic or anything else, we must understand whether we have a rear there,” he said.
Isaev emphasized that Chechens are not the indigenous people of the Russian Federation.
“We are the indigenous people of the North Caucasus. Therefore, any associations with the empire are offensive to us. This is the first. Secondly, we are surrounded by the Stavropol Territory, Dagestan and Georgia. Until we have some kind of rear on that side, talking about any uprising in the North Caucasus or Ichkeria makes no sense. Look what is happening in Georgia, where Saakashvili is now. If the situation is the same as their attitude towards their president, then what attitude will they have towards the Chechens? The Stavropol Territory is Russia, Dagestan, we hope… Dagestan is in the same situation as us, but we hope that certain processes will take place there in due time,” the speaker said.
According to him, the battalion named after Sheikh Mansur is the legal successor of the Armed Forces of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria.
“We see our activity as leading our struggle so that Ukraine reaches the borders of 1991 and this gives us the opportunity to return home and wage our struggle for liberation, for our absolute right, enshrined in the Constitution of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, recognized by the community. Russia also recognized the independence of Ichkeria in 1997, and England did. We want the entire civilized world to recognize the occupation of Ichkeria, so that we can freely return home and live freely in our country. Therefore, our task, as a battalion now, is to help Ukraine in the hope that Ukraine will help us,” Isaev said.
He noted that the fall of Russia and the regime would be enough for the whole world to see the true face of the Chechens, whom they have been breaking, destroying, and trying in every possible way to eradicate for 20 years. And if we take history, then for 400 years Russia did everything possible to wipe Chechnya off the face of the earth. But no one has succeeded and no one will succeed.
“The war will take its course, and Russia will get exactly where we allow it. If we take measures, if we interact, if the world community provides the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the support it declared at the beginning of the war, then we will definitely win this war. And Ukraine, Chechnya, Dagestan, and the entire civilized world will win,” concluded Said Isaev.
As previously reported, representatives of the indigenous peoples of the North Caucasus are fighting against the Russian army as part of volunteer battalions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The International Legion of Territorial Defense of Ukraine includes the Dagestan Volunteer Battalion named after Imam Shamil, the Muslim Corps “Caucasus”, the Chechen battalions named after Dzhokhar Dudayev, Khamzat Gelayev and Sheikh Mansur and others.
