Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova sign intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in higher education

Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Moldova on Cooperation in Higher Education was signed.

The signing of the Agreement will strengthen and expand bilateral partnership in higher education on the basis of equality and mutual benefit.

The Agreement will also create legal grounds for granting scholarships to encourage and promote academic mobility, exchange of students, postgraduates, teachers between educational institutions of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova.

The scholarships for students and internship opportunities for academic staff provided for by the Agreement will promote both the exchange of knowledge and experience, and cultural and linguistic exchange, which will strengthen relations between the Ukrainian and Moldovan peoples.

The Agreement also stipulates that the parties shall encourage cooperation in the field of higher education by developing joint projects within the programs of the European Union, the Council of Europe, the United Nations, UNESCO and other international organizations and programs.

On the basis of this Agreement, other international bilateral agreements, in particular a protocol on cooperation in the field of education, may be signed in the future. The previous such Ukrainian-Moldovan protocol was in effect until 2020.
