Ukraine and the Netherlands discussed cooperation in the fields of security and European integration

Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva had a telephone conversation with the adviser to the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of the Netherlands on foreign policy and security Jeffrey van Leeuwen.

This was reported by UA with reference to the Office of the President of Ukraine.

“Ihor Zhovkva acquainted his interlocutor with the current security situation in Donbas and informed about the growing military presence of the Russian Federation, which continues along the borders of Ukraine. He stressed the importance of a strong and coordinated position of the international community, especially the EU and NATO, to support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and noted the firm position of the Netherlands on this issue” – said in a statement.

The interlocutors also discussed:

  • the NATO Summit in Madrid in 2022 (in the context of Ukraine’s invitation to participate in the event and its expected results);
  • practical steps to realize Ukraine’s European aspirations;
  • the epidemic situation in Ukraine and the Netherlands (steps taken by the two countries to counter the spread of COVID-19).

To remind, the US President Joe Biden discussed the situation around Ukraine and security issues in Northern Europe with Finnish President Sauli Niiniste.
