Ukraine and the EU have launched a cyberdialogue

On June 3, the first round of the Ukraine-European Union cyber dialogue took place. The parties reaffirmed their commitment to a global, open, stable and secure cyberspace.

This is reported by UATV referring to the Foreign Ministry’s website.

The EU has expressed solidarity and support for Ukraine, which is suffering cyber-attacks aimed at undermining critical infrastructure.

Ukraine and the European Union have provided information on the institutional structure and powers of authorities in the sphere of cyberspace, as well as on the latest developments of relevant policies and legislative initiatives, including the update of the EU Directive on the Security of Network and Information Systems (NIS Directive), and Ukraine’s efforts to develop policies and cybersecurity legislation aligned with the EU legal and institutional framework.

In addition, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to the need of establishment a Program of Action for Responsible State Conduct in Cyberspace within the frameworks of the United Nations.

“Ukraine and the EU have reaffirmed the importance of the Budapest Convention, which provides a strong basis for national legislation and international cooperation in the fight against cybercrimes, commitment to the early approval of the draft Second Additional Protocol to strengthen cooperation in promoting international cooperation to effectively combat cybercrime at regional and international platforms”, – the statement reads.

Besides, earlier, the UA30 cyber-center was opened in Ukraine.
