During a meeting in Chisinau, Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications Mykola Tochytskyi and his Moldovan counterpart Sergiu Prodan expressed mutual interest in developing cooperation in the protection of cultural property.
This was reported by the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.
The parties discussed the support of joint projects in the field of theater and cinema, museum exhibitions, as well as measures to preserve cultural heritage, and the introduction of barrier-free access to culture.
Tochytskyi informed his colleague that, according to the latest data, Russian troops have damaged 1419 cultural heritage sites and 2233 cultural infrastructure facilities in Ukraine.
“Therefore, the subject of further bilateral cooperation is joint restoration projects to restore cultural sites affected by the war, exchange of knowledge on heritage preservation and museum management,” the ministry said.
The meeting’s agenda also included prospects for joint initiatives within UNESCO.
The ministers paid special attention to the possibility of holding joint exhibitions and cultural events that highlight the scale of cultural destruction and raise awareness of the international community, as well as projects to counter disinformation in the field of historical research.
