A delegation of representatives of the main cybersecurity actors of Ukraine met in Brussels with representatives of the European External Action Service, the Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CONNECT) and ENISA. Ukraine’s representatives shared the experience gained by our country in countering Russian cyber aggression.
In particular, the parties discussed effective measures to prevent cyber attacks, building cyber defences and close cooperation between the country’s cybersecurity actors as a key factor in successfully combating cyber threats. They also discussed the growing level of international cybercrime due to the active involvement of actors from Russia. In this context, international partners were briefed on the effective countermeasures taken by Ukraine, including the Protective DNS phishing domain filtering system.
“Ukraine continues to develop cyber defence systems based on new challenges. As the situation in cyberspace is constantly changing, Russian hackers are constantly looking for new approaches to penetrate information systems. This requires a quick response. At the same time, this experience is extremely useful for our partners, who are also under attack from Russian cybercriminals,” said Danylo Mialkovskyi, Director of the Cybersecurity Department of the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine.
The meeting actually became a platform for discussing aspects of the third round of cyber dialogue between Ukraine and the European Union. The participants also discussed the achievements of our country and the ways to further harmonise Ukrainian cybersecurity legislation with EU standards.
“Today, Ukraine is at the forefront of the fight against Russian aggression in cyberspace, and we are eager to share our experience with the European Union. Effective measures to prevent cyber attacks, strengthening cyber resilience and cooperation with partners are our key tools. The meeting with EU representatives is an important step towards deepening cooperation and strengthening the defence capabilities of both sides. We are grateful to the European Union for supporting Ukraine in the war, which is also taking place in cyberspace,’ said Natalia Tkachuk, head of the delegation, Secretary of the National Cybersecurity Coordination Centre, Head of the Information Security and Cybersecurity Service of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine.
The meeting stressed the importance of joint work and exchange of experience between Ukraine and the European Union in the field of cybersecurity. Both sides reaffirmed their readiness to further deepen cooperation, exchange of information and joint actions to ensure resilience and security in cyberspace.
The event was attended by representatives of the National Cybersecurity Coordination Centre, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection, the National Police of Ukraine and the Office of the Prosecutor General.
