The United States is investigating the leak of potential intelligence information about Israel’s plans to take action in response to Iran.

This was reported by CNN, citing three sources.

Top-secret documents dated October 15 and 16 were circulated online starting Friday and were initially published on Telegram by an account named Middle East Spectator.

President Biden stated that he is aware of how Israel will respond to Iran’s missile attack. This channel claimed on Friday that it received the documents from a source within the U.S. intelligence community. An unnamed individual familiar with the matter confirmed the authenticity of the documents.

According to Axios, the Telegram account regularly publishes pro-Iranian content.

The leak occurred as Israel is concluding several weeks of preparations for a retaliatory strike against Iran, which launched a barrage of ballistic missiles at Israel on October 1.

The documents include a report from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) of the Department of Defense, circulated within the U.S. intelligence community earlier this week.

The report details activities that have been conducted in recent days at several Israeli Air Force bases, including the transfer of modern munitions intended for an attack on Iran.

It also notes that, according to American intelligence, the Israeli Air Force conducted large-scale exercises this week involving reconnaissance aircraft and likely fighters preparing for a possible attack on Iran.

NBC reported that the U.S. believes Israel has narrowed down the list of potential targets for a strike against Iran.

The purported intelligence report also outlines the preparation of Israeli drone units for an attack against Iran.

The potential leak may signify a very serious security breach within the U.S. intelligence community.

Just a year and a half ago, a scandal involving U.S. intelligence gained significant attention. Beginning in January 2022, a military member deliberately published information, including details about the war in Ukraine, classified as “secret” and “top secret” in a closed chat on the popular gaming platform Discord.

The leak became public only in April 2023. The perpetrator, a young National Guard soldier, was arrested and pleaded guilty in court this spring.
