Two Ukrainian films won awards at the Riga Film Festival

Ukrainian films won two of the four prizes at the Artdocfest / Riga documentary film festival.

List of winners:

Best Film – “A Quiet Voice”, dir. Reka Valerik (France).

Special Jury Prize – “Blue Earth, Like an Orange”, dir. Irina Tsilyk (Ukraine, Lithuania).

Best Director – Viktor Kossakovsky, “Gunda” (Norway, USA).

Special mention of the jury – “Baikonur. Invasion”, dir. Dmytro Hromov (Ukraine).

The film “The Earth is Blue as an Orange” tells the story of a family living in the “red zone” of Donbas. Overcoming the daily injuries of living in the frontline, 36-year-old Anna raises four children. But, despite all the difficulties, this family is very friendly and cheerful. Mom and kids have many hobbies, play various musical instruments and even make their own films about their lives during the war.

“Baikonur. Invasion” tells the story of two researchers from Ukraine who, risking their lives, enter the classified territory of the spaceport to see the launch of the Soyuz rocket.

The film “Earth as Blue as an Orange” won a prizeat the Seattle Film Festival at the Seattle Film Festival, as well as an American award.
