The United States has announced that a conversation between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin could take place next week.

This was stated by U.S. Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff in an interview with CNN.

When asked about the timeline for reaching an agreement—whether it would take weeks or months—Witkoff responded that President Trump uses the term “weeks,” and he has no intention of disputing that.

He also expressed hope that real progress on the matter would be achieved soon.

“I believe everyone should focus on the progress that has been made since the president’s inauguration. No one expected such rapid advancement,” he added.

Witkoff acknowledged that the situation in Ukraine remains extremely complex but stated that the U.S. is steadily narrowing the gap between the two sides.

“There are still many issues to discuss, but I believe the two presidents will have a really good and constructive conversation this week,” he said.

It is worth noting that President Trump recently stated on his social media platform that the U.S. had “very good and productive discussions” with Vladimir Putin.

Notably, Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, was in Moscow earlier this week.
