The American magazine Time has announced the nominees and named the newly elected U.S. president, Donald Trump, as “Person of the Year 2024.”
This was announced by The Time magazine itself.
“Trump’s political rebirth is unparalleled in American history,” emphasized Time. They reminded readers that his first term ended in “disgrace,” and his attempts to overturn the 2020 election results culminated in the U.S. Capitol attack.
“Most party officials avoided him when he announced his candidacy at the end of 2022 amid numerous criminal investigations. Just over a year later, Trump cleared the Republican field, securing one of the fastest presidential primaries in history,” noted the magazine.
He spent six weeks during the general election in a New York courtroom, becoming the first former president to be convicted of a crime—this fact did little to weaken his support.
In July, at a rally in Pennsylvania, he survived an assassination attempt. And then came his victory in the election against the Democratic opponents—sitting President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
Ultimately, Trump became the first Republican to win the popular vote in 20 years.
