S President Donald Trump had a phone conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin on the morning of February 12.
CNN first reported it, and later Trump himself confirmed the conversation.
The American president described the conversation as “long and very productive.” In particular, according to Trump, they discussed Ukraine, the Middle East, energy, artificial intelligence, and the “power of the dollar.”
“We both agreed, we want to stop the millions of deaths that are happening during the Russian-Ukrainian war. President Putin even used my campaign motto: “Common Sense”. We both believe in that,” the US president said.
As a reminder, on February 10, the New York Post wrote that Trump announced in an interview that he had spoken to Putin on the phone to try to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine. In particular, the US president said that Putin was “not indifferent” to the killings on the battlefield. “He wants people to stop dying,” he said.
However, at the time, the Russian leader’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, could not confirm or deny the information about the conversation.
The next day, Trump spoke again about the conversation with Putin, but did not specify when it took place and refused to disclose details. At the same time, he said that the United States had made progress in negotiations with Russia to end the war.
