“Together to Victory”: A telethon was held on a Lithuanian TV channel in support of Ukraine.

The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported about this.

The event organized by the international Blue/Yellow Volunteer Organization and the Lithuanian National Radio and Television was timed to the 27th Anniversary of the Day of Defenders of Freedom – the tragic events in Vilnius on January 13, 1991. It was aimed at raising funds for their next transfer of humanitarian aid for the needs of the eastern regions of Ukraine, who suffered as a result of Russian aggression.

The participans of the TV marathon: Ukrainian servicemen and volunteers from the East of Ukraine, a group of Ukrainian children from the eastern regions studying at the Vilnius Lithuanian House, Chairman of the “Blue/Yellow” volunteer organization J. Okhman, representatives of the telethon organizing committee, the Lithuanian politician, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Lithuania, heads of diplomatic missions of Georgia, Latvia and Estonia, accredited in Lithuania, activists of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania and the Ministry of Defense of Lithuania, embassy staff and the active Ukrainian community of Lithuania and Lithuanian civil activists.

President of Lithuania Dalia Gribauskaite and Lithuanian Prime Minister Saulius Skvernialis addressed the participants of the telethon with welcome video-addresses.

Ambassador of Ukraine to Lithuania Volodymyr Yatsenkivskiy read to the participants of the marathon a congratulatory letter from the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko with words of sincere gratitude to the Republic of Lithuania for the active support of Ukraine in its struggle against external aggression, as well as greetings to the fraternal Lithuanian people on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the restoration of Lithuanian Statehood.

Congratulations to the participants of the telethon were expressed by the direct participants of the event, the first head of the restored Independent Lithuania, professor Landsbergus, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linkiavicius, General Director of the “LRT” Siaurusavičius and Chairman of the “Blue/Yellow” voluntary organization Okhman.

As part of the telethon, numerous performers from Ukraine, Lithuania and Latvia presented their musical compositions.

During the live broadcast of the charity telethon, the audience sent about 82,700 euros, the recipient of which is the “Blue/Yellow” organization, which provides assistance to the victims of Russian aggression in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, Ukrainian military men, their families, children who have lost their parents, as well as those who suffer from military actions in these regions of Ukraine, to urban communities.
