Today is World Science Day

Today is World Science Day.

World Science Day was proclaimed by the United Nations in 2001 and is celebrated each year on Nov. 10. It highlights the important role that scientists play in the world.

“There are over 90,000 scientists in Ukraine who do important work every day to remain part of the world of scientific progress as a society … Our common mission is to make the value and importance of science understandable to society,” Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk wrote on  Facebook.

The government’s task is to provide the conditions for the integration of Ukrainian scientists into the world and particularly into fellow European research spheres,  so that they have access to grant funding for their research under transparent rules, Honcharuk said. It is also important to create the conditions for young scientists to be able to build a research career in Ukraine and to be supported at each of its stages.

“There is a lot of work ahead, but we are well-tuned for the result for the sake of our joint development,” Honcharuk said.
