Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal says this year, Ukrainian manufacturers expect to produce over 2.5 million drones. Last year, over 1 million were manufactured.

The head of Ukraine’s government spoke at a press conference on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Drones are another very important innovative element of our development, where Ukraine has built the infrastructure for producing from scratch today. Today, we produce the largest number of combat drones in the world. Last year, over 1 million were manufactured. This year, our goal is over 2.5 million combat drones for our Armed Forces,” Shmyhal said.

According to the prime minister, more than 500 Ukrainian companies are working to this end.

He noted that this is not only about the production of conventional FPV drones, Mavics, but also robotic systems.

“In particular, electronic warfare systems that protect the battlefield,” the prime minister said.

Shmyhal added that in general, the production of drones is pacing up.

“We are moving forward, improving these products. Today, our drones not only fly, not only roam the sea, having liberated the Black Sea from the enemy, but we are also introducing a fairly large number of ground platforms, so-called ground robots. That is, today Ukraine is moving in the sky, on the ground, and at sea in the drone development,” Shmyhal emphasized.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, on February 21, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to allocate another UAH 7.9 billion for drones, the purchase of which will be done by the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection.
