On the occasion of the Independence Day, many allies and partners visited Ukraine. According to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, a number of productive meetings were held that make our country stronger.
“We discussed the restoration of Ukraine’s infrastructure with the President of Portugal. Since the beginning of the year, thousands of facilities have been restored as part of the rapid recovery project. More than 10,000 families have already received state funding to repair their damaged homes. The State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development will disclose the estimates for all construction projects,” the Head of Government said.
Denys Shmyhal said that the rehabilitation programme for Ukrainian soldiers and the humanitarian demining programme had been discussed with the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“Ukraine is now the most mined country in the world. Bosnia and Herzegovina has experience in this area that can help. We are doing everything possible to ensure that the demining process does not take decades,” the Prime Minister stressed.
With the Finnish Prime Minister, the Head of Ukrainian Government raised the issue of the heating season, support for the energy system and the restoration of Ukraine.
“We will strengthen cooperation in this area, because the winter will also be difficult. We are preparing as much as we can. We have already pumped more than 13 billion cubic metres of gas. We are repairing and restoring our energy facilities,” said Denys Shmyhal.
With the Prime Minister of Moldova, the Head of Ukrainian Government discussed in detail the issues of logistics and cooperation at the border. Denys Shmyhal stressed that this was important in the context of Russia’s attempts to block the “grain corridor” in the Black Sea.
“We are starting to build a bridge over the Dniester and expand the capacity of border crossings. Ukraine is offering all its neighbours on the western border to set up joint customs control. This will speed up and simplify logistics and help reduce the risk of abuse,” said Denys Shmyhal.
In addition, with the Prime Minister of Norway, energy issues and support for small and medium-sized businesses were discussed. According to the Prime Minister of Ukraine, thousands of Ukrainians have already received grants to start their own businesses under the eRobota programme, and Ukraine is counting on support in this regard.
According to Denys Shmyhal, the issues of military assistance, Ukraine’s European integration aspirations, sanctions policy and financial support were discussed with each of the international partners.
