In Berlin, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks with German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
This meeting, the third this fall, was described by Zelenskyy as the most important one since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
The President presented Scholz with the Victory Plan and discussed its key aspects with the Chancellor.
“This Plan is a bridge to holding a successful Peace Summit, which will truly bring an end to the war. It is not meant to replace our peace initiative, but rather to strengthen Ukraine’s position in bringing peace closer,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
The President thanked Germany and Olaf Scholz personally for the full range of assistance provided: defense, economic, and political, as well as for their participation in the first Peace Summit and support for the Peace Formula.
“Germany has helped us the most with air defense. This is a fact. It has saved thousands of Ukrainian lives and provides our cities and villages with protection against Russian terror,” the President noted.
A key focus of the talks was the implementation of the provisions of the bilateral security agreement next year, the work of joint enterprises for repairing armored vehicles in Ukraine, and the launch of joint weapons production. Zelenskyy also proposed that Scholz consider the possibility of financing Ukrainian production of long-range weaponry.
The German Chancellor assured that Germany would continue its military support for Ukraine next year.
“Additionally, by the end of this year, with the support of our partners – Belgium, Denmark, and Norway – we will deliver another package to Ukraine worth €1.4 billion. It will include air defense systems like IRIS-T, Skynex, Gepard, howitzers, self-propelled artillery, armored vehicles, combat drones, radars, and ammunition,” said Olaf Scholz.
