The capture of the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region is a political goal for the Russian Federation. Indeed, all forces are thrown at this by the Kremlin. A serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yegor Firsov, who is fighting in the Bakhmut direction, said this live on the FREEDOM TV channel.
“Our unit is now located in the Bakhmut district, not in Bakhmut itself. And we see what kind of superheroism is happening in the city of Bakhmut: how our brigades are smashing to shreds those units and that artillery that the rashist state has pulled, it has pulled everything to this very point … There is a political goal … They are actually fighting in Bakhmut with their entire country, ” Firsov comments.
The serviceman also said that the Donetsk settlement of New York, near which his unit is located, is perceived as New York City in comparison with the hell that takes place in Bakhmut.
“Our divisions are located in the Bakhmut district closer to Gorlovka, but believe me, we have a resort compared to them. We are located near New York. There is such a Ukrainian village. We have a real New York, yes, in comparison with the hell that is happening right now in the city of Bakhmut, ”he says.
Firsov, who himself is a native of the Donetsk region, stressed that the Russians continue the scorched earth tactics, destroying the Ukrainian Donbass.
“There is no longer any Bakhmut, unfortunately. Only a few five-story buildings remained. Everything else is just wiped off the face of the earth. Everything else has been reduced to rubble. In the same way, this also applies to the small town of Sands and Maryinka, from which nothing remains at all. A similar thing happens in Avdiivka. This is a paradoxical story: they [the Russians] declare that they are liberating the Donbass, in fact, they are simply destroying it, wiped it off the face of the earth, ”the guest of the air stated.
According to him, for the fighters on the front line, it is obvious that the enemy completely disregards any conventions that determine the rules for introducing war.
Over the past 24 hours, the Russians have been concentrating their main efforts on conducting offensive operations in the Limansky, Bakhmutsky and Maryinsky directions. The Ukrainian Defense Forces repulsed about 60 attacks. The fiercest battles go for Bakhmut and Marinka.
