Prime Ministers of Poland and Latvia Mateusz Morawiecki and Krisjanis Karins urged the NATO countries not to succumb to blackmail and threats from Russia. They also believe that Germany should block the commissioning of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

The politicians announced this during a joint press conference, UA reports.

In particular, Morawiecki noted that pressure from Russia is increasing, so the overall position of the West on the situation around Ukraine and what is happening on the eastern flank of NATO should be decisive.

According to the Polish prime minister, now is a critical moment in history in terms of the implementation of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline project. Therefore, it is important for European countries not to agree to Russian gas blackmail.

In turn, the Prime Minister of Latvia stressed that the strengthening of democracy in Ukraine is a threat to the Russian Federation. With this, he connected the military escalation of Russia on the border of our country, in the light of which he called on the West to show unity.

“A lot of effort is now being made to put together possible sanctions packages. What the current German government promises is that the final decision on Nord Stream 2 has not yet been made, and this is a very important aspect. So the reaction of the West and NATO to a possible military aggression looks extremely decisive, deep and painful for the Kremlin” – Karins said.

To remind, Andriy Yermak, head of the Presidential Office, said that the Ukrainian authorities are doing everything necessary to ensure that our country and the Armed Forces are ready for any scenario.
