In the framework of a working trip of the Governmental delegation to the USA led by the Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine Oleksii Chernyshov there took place a series of business meetings.
Hence, Minister Oleksii Chernyshov met with Don Graves, US Deputy Secretary of Commerce.
Among the key topics is further close cooperation between the United States and our country.
“The key conclusions of the conversation: the USA is confident in the victory of our country, therefore they do not believe that it is too early to begin the reconstruction of Ukraine, and they stand ready to continue assisting Ukraine, including support for reconstruction efforts. The U.S. Department of Commerce will back in the U.S. Administration and the U.S. Treasury Department a request from the Ukrainian side regarding the need for additional funding. The US Department of Commerce will also hold consultations with DFC and US Eximbank to determine ways of financing projects in Ukraine. The US Department of Commerce is ready to actively involve American business in all projects in Ukraine, including those aimed at the reconstruction of our state,” noted Oleksii Chernyshov.
The Minister also met with Reta Jo Lewis, President, and Chair of the Board of Directors of Eximbank USA. Practical steps to strengthen EXIM financing were discussed. According to the Minister, Ukraine needs additional resources to restore critical infrastructure and to solve the housing problems of Ukrainians who lost their homes due to Russian aggression. Funding will also go towards Ukraine’s withstanding needs this winter.
In addition, the Minister for Communities and Territories Development held a meeting with DFC Chief Executive Officer Scott Nathan, Chief Operating Officer Agnes Dasewicz, and DFC’s Chief of Staff Rebecca Brocato.
DFC team expressed their readiness to continue supporting business projects in Ukraine and start implementing new ones.
Oleksii Chernyshov reported, that DFC indicated the possibility of developing projects related to the construction and development of industrial parks in Ukraine.
“Ukraine is completely transparent for all the aid and cooperation from the United States,” the Minister concluded.
As was reported earlier, on August 29, the Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine Oleksii Chernyshov started a working trip to the USA as the head of the Governmental delegation. Key topics of the visit are the support for fast recovery and preparation for the heating season in Ukraine.
