The US State Department does not deny the arrest of Putin in case of his visit to America

Russian President Vladimir Putin will certainly be held accountable, and the United States will do everything to ensure this. An International Criminal Court warrant for Putin’s arrest is one way to prosecute Putin. Andrea Kalan, the official representative of the US State Department, stated this on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel.

“There are different options, different bodies that can hold accountable. But the most important thing is that such crimes cannot be left unpunished. The decision of the ICC says that the world community will not stand by and do nothing. We will do everything possible to hold the Russian Federation accountable. In addition, the United States will continue to work with our partners to collect evidence to collect information about the crime that Russia has committed and is committing on the territory of Ukraine. Because when there is a trial, this evidence will be extremely important, ”Kalan said.

She also noted that although the United States did not sign the Rome Statute, they take part in the work of the International Criminal Court.

“It is not so important that the US is not a signatory to the statute. But the fact is that the US intends to hold Putin accountable. We will do everything we can on our part to let him know that we will do everything we can to hold him accountable,” Kalan said.

She stressed that Putin is primarily guilty of starting the war against Ukraine.

“We have a moral obligation to do everything we can to bring to justice those who commit these crimes. And we see that the war started because of Putin, because of his decision it continues, crimes are committed, because of his decision to invade Ukraine. So all countries that want to be members of the democratic international community should do everything possible to hold him accountable, ”added the representative of the State Department.
