American officials are concerned that if Ukraine’s operation in the Kursk region continues, its forces may be overstretched.

The NBC News channel reports.

According to the interlocutors of the TV channel, Russia is currently trying to organize an effective response to the unexpected offensive of Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region, which forced it to divert part of the troops from Ukraine to strengthen the defense on its own territory.

But the number of troops that Russia had to withdraw from Ukraine “is not significant,” said one of the American officials. So far, Russia has not yet mobilized enough combat power to return the territories under the control of Ukrainian forces.

US officials and military analysts have warned that there is a risk that Ukraine’s supply lines could be overwhelmed as it tries to support troops fighting on Russian soil and repel Russian attacks in the east.

“This is worrying,” said one US official.

American officials say that the exact goals of the Ukrainian offensive in Russia remain not fully understood.

Earlier, the USA recorded the redeployment of a certain part of Russian forces to the territory of the Kursk region.

At the same time, according to British intelligence, Russia is using troops in the Kursk region whose personnel are not fighting for their intended purpose, which may reduce the Russian Federation’s ability to return territories occupied by Ukrainian forces.
