The US will continue to supply weapons to Ukraine “as much as we can.” US President Joe Biden announced this today, December 13, during a joint press conference with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, FREEDOM reports.
“It is a great honor to welcome you again, Mr. President, to the White House. When Mr. Putin grossly violated the sovereignty of Ukraine on February 24, 2022 and Russian tanks approached Kiev, we did not think that Ukraine would last a month in this war. And now – here you are, with us, after almost two years of a full-scale war, and Ukraine is standing and resisting. This is already a big victory,” Biden said.
He emphasized that the people of Ukraine did not submit to Putin’s wishes, and with the help of the support of the United States and allies, “Ukraine will emerge from this war proud, free and firmly strengthened, unless we retreat from its support.”
“The American people should and can be proud of their role in supporting Ukraine, its achievements and successes,” the US leader added.
Biden assured that the United States will continue to supply weapons to Ukraine “as much as we can.” An example of this is the $200 million in support, the allocation of which was approved today. The president said that this aid package includes “very important equipment, ammunition, artillery.”
Biden said that without additional funding from the US Congress, opportunities to help Ukraine “respond urgently to operational needs” will be exhausted, and this cannot be allowed to happen.
“We must prove that Putin is wrong in his expectations. And the US Congress must take a definite opinion. We see how this situation (the delay in the vote by the US Congress on funding support for Ukraine – ed.) is being used by Russia. When the support block was voted on last week, they celebrated. And the owner of this Kremlin circus “tent” said: “Well done, Republicans, this is good for us,” the American leader noted.
Republican congressmen are in favor of voting on assistance to Ukraine in a single package with laws to strengthen the Mexican border and reduce migration problems. Biden emphasized that achieving a compromise on this issue is the task of Democratic congressmen.
“We are ready to compromise. Funding for Ukraine [Republicans] are holding hostage in order to push through their agenda. This cannot be done, we need real solutions,” said the US President.
The president added that if Putin is not stopped today, “he will go further, and brazen aggressors will appear everywhere and will take by force everything they want to take.”
“We will not leave Ukraine. The majority both among the American people and in the US Congress support Ukraine. They, just like me, understand: the success of Ukraine means overcoming future aggressions, which will determine security in the world,” he emphasized.
