In the section with Belarus, the situation along the Ukrainian border is under control. The border is being strengthened – both with the Republic of Belarus and with the Russian Federation. So far, there is no threat of invasion from the territory of Belarus. Andriy Demchenko, the speaker of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SFSU), announced this on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel.
So he commented on the message of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus that the army of Belarus and the Wagner PMC began joint training on the border with Poland and Ukraine. The exercises are taking place at the Brestsky training ground. It is about 40 km from the border with Ukraine, and 30 km from the border with Poland. At the same time, Ukrainian border guards note that “Wagnerites” continue to arrive in Belarus.
“If we talk directly about the line of our border, at the moment the situation remains fully controlled. The Ukrainian Defense Forces, both units of the State Border Guard Service, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard, are strengthening this direction as much as possible, including work on the engineering and fortification construction in order to strengthen the border with Belarus. But, in fact, our attention is also directed to the arrival of Russian mercenaries from PMCs on the territory of Belarus. We are monitoring their arrival there,” Demchenko said.
According to the speaker of the State Border Guard Service, the “Wagnerites” are mainly located near Osipovichi, in the place where Belarus carried out work to equip the base for them.
“But we also clearly understand that they can be involved in the training of units of the Belarusian army, as well as units and the Russian army, which may be located on the territory of Belarus, since Belarus itself kindly provides its territory, training grounds for the Russian army, so that they conduct training and training there. We are also monitoring these exercises, since this is also located on the border with Ukraine. But near the immediate border with Ukraine, at the moment, there is no movement of military equipment or personnel of either units of the Belarusian army or mercenaries, ”he says.
Demchenko clarified that the Ukrainian border guards do not record that Russia has the necessary forces on the territory of Belarus to carry out an attack on the territory of Ukraine.
“Also, there are not enough forces on the direction of the border with Ukraine directly on the territory of Russia in the direction of the Chernihiv, Sumy and Kharkiv regions. But, nevertheless, we must be prepared for any event. And if we analyze the situation on the border with Belarus, we can also carry out engineering work there. It is more difficult to do this along the border with Russia directly along the borderline, since the enemy shells the territory of Ukraine every day. Nevertheless, fortifications are being made in the border area, as close as possible to the state border line, so that the Defense Forces of Ukraine have every opportunity to repel any attacks, if any. And the command reacts adequately to the situations that occur on the direction of the border of Ukraine opposite our territory – both Belarus and Russia, ”said the speaker of the State Border Guard Service.
In addition, the borderline is being equipped as much as possible in terms of engineering in order to prevent, among other things, attempts to violate the crossing by illegal migrants.
As previously reported, at least 150 more units of Wagner military equipment arrived in Belarus. Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant-General Sergei Naev, said that the Ukrainian military is additionally strengthening the border with Belarus after the arrival of mercenaries in this country.
