U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he is discussing “major economic development deals” with Russia in addition to negotiations on “ending the war” in Ukraine.

He wrote this on his social network, Truth Social.

In his post, Trump spoke about the G7 summit, dedicated to the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and “emphasized the importance” of concluding an agreement between the U.S. and Ukraine on rare earth elements.

“This agreement, which is an ‘Economic Partnership,’ will ensure that the American people recover tens of billions of dollars and military equipment sent to Ukraine, while also helping the Ukrainian economy grow as this brutal and savage war nears its end,” he added.

The U.S. President then mentioned that he is engaged in “serious negotiations” with Putin regarding “ending the war, as well as major economic development deals that will take place between the United States and Russia.”

“The negotiations are going very well!” Trump concluded, without providing any details.

Notably, on February 18, a meeting between top officials from Russia and the U.S. took place in Saudi Arabia without Ukraine’s participation. During the meeting, the parties agreed to “remove irritants” in bilateral relations and continue working on preparations for negotiations regarding Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Recently, Steve Witkoff, the U.S. President’s special envoy, stated that the American side has come “very close” to reaching a peace agreement to resolve the war initiated by Russia against Ukraine.
