Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov said that the strategy ‘not to provoke Russia’ does not work and will not work.
The ‘Ukrinform’ reports this with reference to the Financial Times.
Reznikov called the fears of Western allies to oppose Russian President Vladimir Putin from a position of strength false.
‘Not to provoke Russia – this strategy does not work and will not work’ – he said, recalling that Moscow invaded Georgia after Berlin and Paris blocked the country’s path to NATO membership in 2008.
According to the minister, Moscow’s ‘red line’ against Ukraine’s accession to NATO was only part of Russia’s ‘salami tactics’ against the Alliance.
‘I think the United States understands these threats. They must preserve the unity of the Alliance’ – Reznikov said.
Earlier, the minister said that Russia has been using the tactics of a kind of waves for a year.
