The SE “IBMPU” launched a YouTube channel in Portuguese

The state enterprise “The International Broadcasting Multimedia Platform of Ukraine” has created the YouTube channel UATV Português to objectively inform the Portuguese-speaking audience worldwide about key events in Ukraine.

Portuguese is one of the most widespread languages in the world. More than 230 million people speak it in Portugal, Brazil, and several African countries. In most of these countries, Russian propaganda is actively operating, so one of the main tasks of UATV Português is to be a platform for truthful and verified information about Ukraine.

UATV Português presents key news covering Ukraine’s struggle for independence, various aspects of Russia’s war against our state and its consequences for the world, official statements and addresses by the President of Ukraine, analytical materials, and thematic projects that highlight Ukraine’s achievements in the defense sector, the development of democracy, and the contribution of Ukrainians to global culture and science, as well as debunking myths of Russian propaganda.

Alongside news, UATV Português viewers already have access to several foreign broadcasting projects adapted into Portuguese. Among them:

  • Heróis entre nós about foreign volunteers helping Ukraine;
  • Discurso de Ódio Russo about the language of hatred that Russia imposes on the world;
  • Jogos com a Verdade about Russian disinformation;
  • War Born Art about Ukrainian artists who turn war artifacts into unique works of art; documentary films and more.

At the start of the project, views of the UATV Português YouTube channel from abroad accounted for 98.1%. The top three countries by viewership are Brazil – 67.4%, Portugal – 15.6%, and Angola – 2.6%*. The number of views is 130,000, and the number of subscribers is 1,267 people.

The SE “MPIU” plans to expand the range of products available in Portuguese over time, including adding analytical programs, interviews, projects about the resilience of Ukrainians, and stories that reveal different aspects of Ukraine to the world. The team is also working on a series of stories about Ukrainian football players playing in Portugal and Brazil.
