Ukraine’s defense forces need a large amount of demining equipment, as the Russian occupiers are simply covering the territory with mines. This was announced today, November 7, on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel by military expert Serhiy Grabskyi.
He noted that there are certain norms regarding the number of equipment that provides military demining, but in this case they should be increased several times.
“Corridors are simply being created through which the troops pass, overcome these minefields and in the future already enter the operational space and act. And these corridors make sense if we are talking about some organized minefields. But in this case, the number of machines we are talking about must be multiplied by 5. Why? Because we are dealing with the issue of chaotic, I would say, terrorist mining of the territory, when the enemy simply fills everything around with mines, to which their hand reaches,” said the military expert.
Grabsky separately reminded about the use of cluster munitions, which also represent a very serious threat. He also drew attention to the fact that the Russians have at their disposal a large number of unmanned aerial vehicles, thanks to which they can conduct constant surveillance and track attempts by the Defense Forces of Ukraine to clear mines.
“That is, when trying to start demining even this corridor, the enemy launches mortar or artillery fire and immediately covers the same corridor with mines. We suffer losses in people, we suffer losses in technology. That is why it should be said that the equipment that is needed must be multiplied by at least 5 in order to be able to carry out the demining of this area constantly and continuously. I am already silent about how long it will take for humanitarian demining, complete demining. But this will be done after the war. And today the need for technology is simply colossal,” Grabsky emphasized.
