The Russian army has lost half of its combat potential in Ukraine and is no longer capable of conducting serious offensive operations. The Russians suffered losses both in professional staff and in equipment. They can replenish them quantitatively, but not qualitatively, because the army cannot restore its combat potential. Military expert Serhii Grabskyi said this on the live broadcast of the FREEDOM TV channel today, July 6.
Despite the fact that Ukraine is waging a war with a state that surpasses it tenfold in terms of territory, population, and economic potential, it is not capable of conducting serious offensive operations, the expert says.
“Today, on the 1,200-kilometer front line, we can literally see some areas where fierce attacks are being carried out with the aim of advancing or at least diverting some resources of the Ukrainian army from more important directions in which the Armed Forces of Ukraine are conducting offensive actions. And this is precisely the consequence of the loss of a significant part of its combat potential and the impossibility of conducting active offensive large-scale combat operations today,” Grabsky emphasized.
He reminded that, according to various data, the group of Russian troops at the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 was estimated at 160-180 thousand.
“Currently, the number of troops fighting on the territory of Ukraine is approximately 400,000. That is, we see that even in terms of quality, the enemy is suffering serious losses. And, having three times the size of the group, now it cannot afford to conduct active hostilities,” said the guest of the broadcast.
According to him, the same applies to combat equipment and weapons, including even small arms.
“On the positions of the Russian army, which according to some indicators claims to be the second in the world, there are Mosin rifles of the 19th century. This is already from great despair. They are trying to put everything they can into the battle, restoring everything they can,” added the guest of the broadcast.
The expert also noted that the Russians failed to build up their military-economic potential and switch to the rails of a military economy.
“They didn’t prepare for it and couldn’t do it. Therefore, even the volume of production of tanks in the Russian Federation remains at the level of up to 200 units per year. Despite the fact that the enemy can suffer much greater losses for a month. They are not even able to restore this potential,” said Grabskyi.
According to the expert, all that the Russian occupation army can do now is to conduct defensive operations with the weapons of the weak.
“We are now seeing such a sticky war, where the only thing Russia can afford is to conduct defensive actions with the weapons of the weak. Using chemical weapons, using massive chaotic and systematic mining of the area in order to stop the advance of the Ukrainian Defense Forces,” the guest of the broadcast summarized.
