The meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the “Ramstein” format, which was expected to involve world leaders, will not take place, according to ZDF.

U.S. President Joe Biden is now scheduled to arrive in Germany on Thursday after postponing his visit due to Hurricane Milton. However, the program for his visit has been significantly shortened to just one day—Friday, October 18.

This reduction in the agenda suggests that the “Ramstein” meeting will not happen in the near future. Nevertheless, there has been no official confirmation from other sources at this time.

ZDF also reported that the defense aid package from Germany, which was supposed to be announced during the “Ramstein” meeting on October 12, was instead unveiled by Chancellor Olaf Scholz during his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy last Friday.

According to ZDF journalist Elmar Theveßen, further decisions in the “Ramstein” format are likely to be postponed until after the U.S. presidential elections.

It was originally planned for Biden to chair the October 12 meeting, which would involve leaders discussing military assistance to Ukraine. However, Biden canceled his trip to Europe due to the approaching Hurricane Milton near Florida’s coast, and the “Ramstein” meeting has now been delayed to an undetermined date.
