The telephone conversation between the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and the President of the United States of America Joseph Biden was very productive and timely.
This was stated by the head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak on the air of the program “Right to Power” on the TV channel “1 + 1”, UA writes with reference to the Office of the President of Ukraine.
In particular, Joseph Biden told Volodymyr Zelensky about the results of his conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“President Biden has warned very openly about all the consequences if the Kremlin decides to escalate around Ukraine’s borders and invade Ukraine. The United States – and President Biden has made this very clear – and his partners are ready for unprecedented sanctions if that happens, “Ermak said.
In addition, the American leader confirmed that the United States will provide Ukraine with all necessary assistance to enable our state to repel at any time.
The US President has made it clear that the decision to join Ukraine is a decision of the Ukrainian people alone.
Biden welcomes the Ukrainian initiatives, which were announced during the meeting of the Tripartite Contact Group, but have not yet found support from all its participants. In particular, according to Ermak, Ukraine proposed to return to the ceasefire in Donbass, which was agreed in July 2020, to open CPVV in Happiness and Golden, which on the Ukrainian side for a year as rebuilt at the highest European level and ready to work. The Ukrainian side also once again provided lists for the release of its detained citizens.
Andriy Yermak noted that today it is clear that the United States has decided to be an active participant in the peace process in Donbass. Although this will depend on many circumstances.
“It could be a parallel track with the Normandy format. Because this format must be respected, because our partners – Germany and France – have done a lot over the years. I think that President Zelensky will meet with President Macron and the new German Chancellor Scholz next week in Brussels. We will continue to work for a summit of leaders of the Normandy format. But the United States has made a clear decision to be an active player in this process. They are very interested in peace in Ukraine, “he said.
During the conversation with Joseph Biden, Volodymyr Zelensky also raised the issue of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline, internal threats, including political destabilization in Ukraine, which were reported by our partners. The implementation of reforms was also discussed.
“President Biden congratulated President Zelensky on the great progress in reforms, especially the reform of the judiciary,” Ermak said.
