For the Russians, Melitopol, which is located in the south of the Zaporizhia region, is a deep rear, the enemy is waiting for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to approach it. This was announced today, on November 14, by military pilot-instructor Roman Svitan on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel.
“The city itself is a deep rear, up to about 100 kilometers to the front line, depending on the points. And in principle, by carrying out activities there to strengthen the city, they are preparing for the fact that our troops will go to Melitopol. In order for us to reach Melitopol, we need to break through the front line in the Orekhovo region, then go to Pologi and from Orekhovo to Tokmak. That is, this is a whole process, it is about two tank crossings – it’s not so simple. And, of course, there is still movement from under Gulyai-Pole, also through Pologi towards Melitopol, this is one practically throw. The Russians understand this very well, therefore they are already strengthening Melitopol. They are preparing to defend this city, ”said the guest of the broadcast.
To cover this city, the occupiers cover the entrance to Crimea through Perekop, Svitan added.
“The left-sided grouping is covered by the Dnipro river itself and the defensive line along the Dnipro river. But just from the north and east, the entrance through Perekop, towards Armyansk, is covered by Melitopol and the so-called Melitopol garrison, ”the expert noted and added that the Russians do not have enough troops to cover the entire front.
Svitan also explained the importance of this direction for the Ukrainian army.
“Melitopol is very important to us, because it is right on the tip of the Liman, which is part of the mainland Ukraine. The main task of the Ukrainian troops to reach the coast of the Sea of Azov. So we will cut the land corridor. Moreover, at any point, wherever we leave, we cut the land corridor that goes from Russia towards Kakhovka, Oleshki – this is already the northern exit from the Crimea, ”said the military.
Svitan predicts that a certain march will be made to expand the front and further push the Russians to the east, closer to Mariupol and further to Novoazovsk.
