NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg discussed the presence of the Russian military on the border with Ukraine and in the Donbas with French President Emmanuel Macron during a visit to Paris. Stoltenberg told about this after the meeting, UATV reports.

“We also discussed the situation in Ukraine. Russia still has troops in and around Ukraine. There are more troops there now than during the recent escalation. That’s why a peaceful solution is needed”, – Stoltenberg said.

He noted the active role of France in the Normandy format to resolve the situation in Donbas.

“NATO remains vigilant because this is part of Russia’s aggressive behavior. At the same time, we remain committed to our bilateral defense approach and dialogue with Russia”, – added NATO Secretary General.
