The Netherlands has allowed the Ukrainian Defense Forces to strike military targets in the rear of the Russian Federation with their weapons. This was stated by the country’s Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans, FREEDOM reports with reference to Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

Brekelmans said that Ukraine can use the Netherlands’ weapons on Russian territory for defense in accordance with international law.

“Ukraine has the right to self-defense. And if the country is attacked from border areas or from Russian airfields, then it can target military targets. The same applies to enemy missiles – they can also be intercepted by our weapons over Russia,” the head of the defense department said.

The minister clarified that permission to strike Russia also directly concerns the F-16 fighters that the Netherlands will transfer to Ukraine.
