The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine starts active cooperation with the Council of Europe

A delegation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, headed by Director General of the Directorate for European Integration, Budgeting and Policy Coordination Oleksandr Pyzhov, with the assistance of the Permanent Representation of Ukraine to the Council of Europe, held working meetings at the Council of Europe Headquarters in Strasbourg, France.

The European partners were represented at the meetings by Matjaž Gruden, Director of Democratic Participation at the Council of Europe, Olena Lytvynenko, Acting Head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine, and experts from the Council of Europe’s Education and Gender Equality Departments.

The Ukrainian delegation initiated a new project of the Council of Europe in Ukraine to implement all educational activities of the Council of Europe’s Action Plan for Ukraine “Resilience, Recovery and Reconstruction” (2023-2026) and briefed the partners on the priorities of Ukraine’s educational policy. After approving this initiative, the parties agreed on further steps to implement it.

The meeting participants also agreed to expand joint activities in the field of legal education, gender equality in education, and the role of education in preventing gender-based violence. During the working visit, additional discussions were held on the importance of historical and language education, in particular its role in countering Russia’s military aggression.

The parties agreed to continue close cooperation, hold regular meetings and joint events to effectively implement the goals and objectives.
