During a working visit to the United States, Minister of Finance of Ukraine Serhiy Marchenko met with representatives of the International Monetary Fund to discuss further cooperation. The IMF representatives noted the country’s progress in carrying out reforms.

The talks were held with European Department Director Alfred Kamer, IMF Executive Director Paul Hilbers, IMF Mission Head in Ukraine Ivanna Vladkova Hollar, IMF Resident Representative in Ukraine Vahram Stepanyan and other IMF team members.
The positions of both parties were agreed and a compromise was reached on anti-corruption reform, corporate governance reform and issues of independence of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau.
Serhiy Marchenko noted that Ukraine has achieved significant results in implementing the IMF’s structural beacons. He stressed that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed a number of bills needed to continue the program of cooperation with the IMF.
IMF experts noted that the decisions of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine led to the rollback of anti-corruption efforts, which requires an appropriate response from the Ukrainian authorities.
The parties agreed to work together in order to be able to reach the Staff level agreement in the near future.
Earlier, the IMF appointed a new representative in Ukraine.
