The IMF mission will arrive in Ukraine

Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a telephone conversation. The parties agreed that the visit of the fund’s mission should take place in September, UA reports citing the Press Service of the President’s Office.

The parties discussed the progress in the implementation of the current IMF Stand-By program, namely Ukraine’s implementation of key structural beacons envisaged by the program. In particular, 2 key bills aimed at strengthening corporate governance in banks, amendments to the Law of Ukraine.

President noted that he keeps the implementation of the judicial reform under personal control and makes every effort to implement it successfully.

The pace of Ukraine’s economic recovery, including the fulfillment of the state budget of Ukraine and specific indicators of its growth, were discussed separately. 

According to Georgieva, communication was constructive. 

“I had a very constructive telephone conversation with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy about the successful economic progress of Ukraine within the IMF program” – she said.

In turn, Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine’s position remains unchanged: relations with the IMF are very important.

“We will continue implementing agreements with international partners” – he said.
