n summer, the European Union plans to open the borders for tourists vaccinated with coronavirus vaccines approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA). This was stated by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, reports UATV with reference to The New York Times.

Four vaccines have been approved for use in Europe – Moderna, Pfizer / BioNTech, Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca. The first 3 vaccines are used in the United States, so Ursula von der Leyen noted that Europe could open borders, primarily for American tourists. At the same time, it is not specified whether this decision will apply to all other tourists vaccinated against coronavirus.

“As far as I know, Americans are using vaccines approved by the European Medicines Agency. This will enable free movement and travel in the European Union,” said Ursula von der Leyen.

“One thing is obvious: all 27 Member States will unconditionally accept anyone vaccinated with EMA-approved vaccines,” she added.

Von der Leyen did not name specific dates when the borders might open for tourists. The resumption of travel will depend on the epidemic situation.
