Speaking at a banquet with the Lord of London, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson said that European countries should choose between dependence on Russian gas and protection of Ukraine.
This was reported by UA with reference to the website of the British Parliament.
“We hope that our friends may realize that a choice is shortly coming between mainlining ever more Russian hydrocarbons in giant new pipelines, and sticking up for Ukraine and championing the cause of peace and stability, let me say so” – Johnson said.
According to Boris Johnson, Vladimir Putin could limit supplies from pipelines passing through Eastern Europe if European countries defend their intentions to protect Ukraine. The Prime Minister added that the support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and integrity by the EU countries does not mean that Russia should be perceived as an enemy and try to isolate it. Support for Ukraine means that European countries have a commitment to democracy and freedom.
