The European Union has already trained 60,000 Ukrainian military personnel. This was announced yesterday by the Secretary of the German Ministry of Defense before a meeting of the heads of defense departments of the EU member states. By the end of this year, the European Union intends to train another 15,000 Ukrainian military personnel. For this purpose, they want to open a coordination center in Ukraine.

“60 thousand. That’s how many military personnel we have trained within the EU. They will return to Ukraine after the exercises. And Germany will train 10,000 soldiers from Ukraine by the end of this year,” said Secretary of the German Ministry of Defense Thomas Gitschler.

According to the Estonian Defense Minister, training Ukrainian military personnel is now one of the main tasks.

“Training is very, very important. We all understand that the Russians will exert pressure before the second Peace Summit, which Volodymyr Zelenskyy plans to hold. We see that in the near future Russia will exert very strong pressure to destroy the Ukrainian infrastructure, so the Ukrainians must have all the opportunities, and this includes personnel, and we need to conduct training. So, if necessary, and if the Ukrainians can give us more people for training, then we must be ready to significantly expand the training mission,” said Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur.

Recall that the day before the meeting of EU defense ministers in Brussels, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said that the EU countries want to expand the training mission for training Ukrainian military personnel.
