The entire military operation in the Gaza Strip will continue for a long time, because the decision-making regarding the existence of the Gaza Strip, the management of the territories, and the resettlement of people will take a long time. Oleksiy Yizhak, head of the department of the National Institute of Strategic Studies, expressed this opinion today, December 5, on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel.

“The entire operation in the Gaza Strip will be long, because no one knows what to do with this territory, how to provide for people’s lives afterwards. This whole situation will drag on for a long time. The humanitarian situation will also drag on next year, because it is not clear what to do with the southern part of the Gaza Strip, there are many people there and it is also necessary to clear them. The military unit, the active actions of aviation, artillery, I think, may end at the beginning of next year. But the general situation of adopting a formal peace and a decision regarding the further existence of the Gaza Strip, the return of people to their homes may take a long time,” he explained.

There are a number of issues that can be resolved diplomatically between Israel and Hamas, the expert noted.

“Some goals can be resolved diplomatically, which concern humanitarian issues, hostages, refugees,” he emphasized.
